THE WORK BEHIND THE BOOKS

From the author’s account.

It Didn't Start with Watergate

Lasky writes as a participant in the political and publishing world he discusses: Chapter 6 begins with his account of Nixon calling about Lasky’s earlier critical Kennedy biography. In a later note, he acknowledges Laurence Rockefeller’s financing of another of his books, adding that he did not know the patron’s identity at the time. These disclosures locate the narrator’s involvement without establishing the accuracy of his account.

Chapter 6, including its opening conversation and the financing disclosure near the close. The title page supplies the author attribution. · lines 2358–2905
