Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil

The narrator describes spending extended periods in Savannah, observing, accepting invitations and taking notes. In the Author’s Note, Berendt identifies the people as real but discloses pseudonyms and storytelling liberties, particularly with event timing. These statements describe his claimed method and its limits rather than independently verifying the scenes.
