THE WORK BEHIND THE BOOKS

From the author’s account.

My Years with General Motors

Sloan describes the book as the product of substantial research and collaboration. He credits John McDonald with helping conceive and write it, Catharine Stevens with working closely with both men from the beginning, and Alfred D. Chandler as consulting historian and research associate. Although the first-person perspective is Sloan’s, he explicitly credits these contributions and accepts final responsibility for the book.

Author’s Preface, LF85–105; title-page roles at LF12–16. This is Sloan’s account of the collaboration, not an independent reconstruction of the drafting process. · lines 85–105
